When to use

When numbers are near a multiple of 10 (e.g., near 50 instead of 100).

How it works

Use a working base like 50 = 100/2, perform Nikhilam, then halve/double the left part appropriately.

Memory formula

Use a proportional working base, then scale the left side back.
