Dhvajāṅka

On the flag

Division by any number using a 'flag digit'.

When to use

Dividing by 2-, 3-digit numbers (general division).

How it works

Place all but the first digit of the divisor as a 'flag'. Divide step-by-step subtracting flag-digit times each new quotient digit.
